About Aspia
With over 3,100 employees in six countries, Aspia support more than 39,000 clients, ranging from small businesses to multinational corporations. To push the boundaries of business processes and set new industry standards, Aspia are launching Aspia AI Next. This agile innovation hub will explore high-impact AI opportunities, develop prototypes, and assess investment potential. This initiative is a strategic priority with board-level attention and a direct link to both the Group CIO and Group COO. If you are passionate about identifying and validating cutting-edge AI technologies and want to contribute to the next technological leap, this is the role for you!
About the role
As an AI Engineer in Aspia’s newly formed AI Next team, you will sit at the centre of the company’s innovation engine. Operating independently from the day-to-day Intelligent Automation organisation, AI Next’s mission is to scout, test and validate the next wave of transformative technologies—especially generative AI and advanced automation.
Your focus is to turn bold ideas into proven concepts that showcase tangible value for Aspia’s internal processes and for client-facing services such as payroll, accounting and tax advisory. Once a prototype is validated, it is handed over to established Centres of Excellence and hub structures for full-scale rollout, allowing you to return to the frontier and explore the next opportunity. In a business rich in structured data, mature processes and a strong digital backbone, you’ll combine curiosity, hands-on coding and business acumen to future-proof Aspia and raise the industry bar for AI-driven business-process outsourcing.
This role combines fullstack engineering skills with hands-on AI engineering experience. You’ll work across the entire product portfolio cycle—from early-stage prototyping and experimentation to guiding engineering efforts as features ship to production. This breadth means you’ll get to explore new AI possibilities while also seeing your ideas mature into real products used by customers. You’ll be expected to design and implement AI-powered features (not just consume pre-built APIs), prototype rapidly while applying balanced decision making on when to build with production quality standards in mind, and bridge the gap between AI possibilities and practical user experiences. You’ll make technical decisions about when and how to apply AI effectively, moving fluidly between exploration phases and production delivery, knowing when each approach is needed.
In practice, the role requires
Fullstack engineering foundation (3-5 years experience):
• Demonstrated ability to build and ship complete applications with modern web frameworks and backend technologies, with primary focus on .NET and C#, though experience with other ecosystems is also applicable (Ruby, Python, Go, etc.)
• Experience deploying and managing applications in cloud environments, preferably Azure, though AWS or GCP experience is also applicable
• Comfortable with CI/CD practices, containerization, cloud service integration, APIs, databases, authentication, and system design fundamentals
Hands-on AI engineering:
You should be able to demonstrate experience in at least 2 of the following through portfolio, projects, or professional work:
• LLM integration: Built applications using LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) beyond
simple chat interfaces—including prompt engineering, context management, structured outputs
• RAG systems: Implemented retrieval-augmented generation with vector databases (Pinecone, Chroma, etc.)
• Agent/workflow design: Created AI agents or multi-step workflows using frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, Microsoft Semantic Kernel or custom orchestration
• Model fine-tuning or training: Experience adapting pre-trained models or training specialized models for specific use cases
• AI feature engineering: Designed and shipped AI-powered features in production applications (recommendations, content generation, semantic search, etc.)
• Evaluation & monitoring: Implemented testing, evaluation, or monitoring strategies for AI system quality and performance
We highly value the ability to build working proof-of-concepts in weeks rather than months, combined with a production mindset that understands the difference between a demo and a scalable system and when to focus on each. Strong technical judgment to know when AI adds value versus when traditional approaches are better, alongside collaboration skills to work effectively with product, design, and business stakeholders are key. Most importantly, you’re a passionate self-directed learner who is genuinely enthusiastic about AI, stays current with developments in the field, and can independently evaluate new tools and techniques to bring insights to the team.
